Haileybury Astana was opened by President Nazarbayev on 31 August 2011, and is the first British Independent School in Astana, the capital of Kazakhstan. Our new and ambitious school is modelled on the traditions of Haileybury in the UK, one of the most famous names among British independent schools. The School provides education for boys and girls, at present from the ages of 18 months to 13 years, with an additional older year group added each year as the children grow. The school brings children together from many nations to learn and grow together. Education is not the process of filling an empty vessel, but lighting a fire in the hearts and minds of the young with whom we will be privileged to work. We wish to stand proud as a beacon of academic excellence; our pupils will also learn the lessons of lasting impact and true worth: self-discipline, integrity of character, care for others, and a sense of values. We place a strong emphasis on cultural and sporting activity outside the academic curriculum. All our pupils have the opportunity to play a musical instrument and to join with others to play and sing together. There are drama productions, art competitons and other academic activities. |

Our school will cater ultimately for students between the ages of 18 months and 18 years, providing the best holistic education possible. As the school grows, we plan to introduce a boarding house to cater for pupils from the age of 13 and above.
