Our main aim in the PE Department will be to encourage all pupils to enjoy exercise and sport no matter what their ability. All pupils at Haileybury Astana will learn to understand the importance of fitness and a healthy style of living. Pupils will take part in one double period of PE a week and all PE lessons are taught in a “block system”. Each block lasts for four to six weeks and concludes with an Inter – House Competition for that sport. Pupils also have the opportunity to participate in sporting Extra Curricular Activities.

Pupils are introduced to basic games skills where they develop their ability to throw, catch and hop as well as eye-hand coordination. In time, they are taught specific sports which help to develop their foot- eye coordination, as well as stamina and strength. Pupils learn the basic football skills of dribbling, passing and shooting and are involved in athletics activities such as running races and relays.

Pupils are also introduced to swimming skills such as breathing, kicking, floating, gliding and diving. A wide variety of swimming games are used in the lessons for younger pupils helping to make swimming enjoyable for children. As the pupils progress they  evelop their swimming skills, learn to breathe effectively and become proficient at front and back crawl.

Haileybury Astana competes in the annual COBIS games, our team trains four times a week and is looking forward to representing the school in the Netherlands 2013 competion.
